Being in a work place, you have an expectation to put on your best personal appearance whilst working, but sometimes you get so overwhelmed in your work that you do not always focus on your appearance, which unfortunately can overwhelm your work load. We have the best tips and advice to help you when wearing business casual wear.
1. Take a good look around you: To get a good idea of what kind of style you can wear at work, look at what industry or business that you work in, is it more corporate or more creative? What would your clients expect? Dress to impress!
2. Consistency: Business casual is always a step down from regular business wear. Not changing from suits to jeans on a regular basis. Your look majority of the week should not change too drastically.
3. Caution for women: When can sometimes be critiqued for their casual style in the work place, this happens especially if you are younger and/or shorter. Stick to elegance in casual attire, such as jackets or vests with matching bottoms, it will give you more presence in the work place.
4. Casual not sloppy clothes: Always clean and wrinkle free! Make sure to replace or repair clothes that show signs of wear and tear. This is more important the more casual you dress.
5. Jeans: If you wear jeans in business casual, make sure you chose the darker pair over the light, also ensure they are a good shape. No sand washing, holes or fraying.
6. Avoid anything too tight, too short or too bare.
7. Appropriateness: Do not wear clothing that is intended for the gym, beach or a night club.
8. Footwear: No sandals or flip-flops, men wear darker shades of athletic shoes if applicable.
9. Meet customer expectations: What you have planned for that day should help you determine how to dress on that day. If your schedule involves public meetings, dress to generate client trust and credibility. If you approach a client and feel the need to apologies for a certain piece of clothing you are wearing, you have gone way too casual.
